For those of you that look forward to our blog items, you will have noticed that while we try to produce something for the beginning of each week it is not always easy to deliver a fresh point of view or a significant “game changer” every time.

This week is not the case, we elected to keep you waiting last week because we were invited to the Qlikview World Tour in London. Our thanks to all at Qliktech who hosted a wonderful event. We have been increasingly impressed by what Qlikview BI solution has done for us in terms of our day to day operations and how we envisage it changing Financial Services.

Over the years in our previous roles, which have spanned the disciplines of high level Quantitative Trading to Operational Set-Ups, we have been involved in many system reviews and selection processes where the software is pitched as the “answer”. Very often the sales person has not really understood the question but they are sure that if you re-design your business…. their software will be the answer!!!

This may be somewhat cynical and doing a dis-service to the software designer, although possibly not, sadly, to most of the sales teams of this world. To balance out this statement, it is fair to say that once you have selected a piece of software it is your responsibility to integrate its functions in to your business and that this needs equal measures of open mindedness and user flexibility.

With these thoughts in mind, through the summer we reached a point where we realised that, if we were to provide a truly effective service or product for our subscribers, we were going to have to make Qlikview the medium through which we deliver results and create business discovery moments.

This has resulted in a sea change of attitude to what we can achieve and how we can deliver it to our various target markets, which we are only just beginning to appreciate and implement.

Lean Back “Discover” Lean Forward “Deliver” Business Information

A theme that Qlikview has developed is the idea that, in order to achieve results, you have to be able to lean back and visualise the information that you are working with before you can make the decisions that drive your business. Once you are able to visualise your objective, it is time to lean forward, concentrate and deliver the component of added value that your client appreciates.

While it is all a bit marketing and “touchy feely” for evidenced based numbers people such as ourselves, we appreciate that putting our information in to context is important for our subscribers. Therefore, we want you to be able to lean back, relax and digest the information we provide before deciding how it helps you to form the investment decisions that are important to your business.

By delivering readily accessible Qlikview “dashboard” files, you will soon be able to access our library of information in entirely new ways. Accessing far more information more effectively, our content that was previously limited to weekly snapshots becomes a flow of analysis that highlights its accuracy and flexibility in supporting your decision making processes.

One area that we intend to develop is the delivery of portfolio modelling services and the benefits that can be derived by any financial intermediary through managing their client investment objectives by arranging appropriate model portfolios.

Building Value

Why Are We Telling You This?

We know that our analysis is highly effective, after all, we have back-tested its application for a number of years to multiple markets and instruments. What Qlikview does for us is to permit you to browse our results and library of content as part of your due diligence or validation process and come to your own conclusions and make better decisions. Over the coming weeks, we will be demonstrating our commitment to Qlikview as we see its effects in how we deliver our unique analysis across a wider and deeper range of asset classes, markets and industry sectors and, at the same time, being able to meet the specific needs of a wider audience.

If you have liked what we have demonstrated in the past, we are sure you are going to like the changes we are now able to make and possibly more importantly for us, if you have only had a fleeting look at what we do and how we do it, we think that you will be pleasantly surprised.

We have always known that at the core of our business we have unique experience and market intelligence with the capability to achieve capital growth in the long term. By embedding Qlikview at the heart of our processes, we know that we are harnessing the capability to deliver specialist knowledge in the form of a unique user experience.

The Importance of Business Discovery for Financial Professionals

We know that you are bombarded with information, ideas and concepts as the landscape of the financial services industry continues to change. The run up to the RDR implementation date and beyond will only intensify this process.

Whether you are an established Asset Manager, a sophisticated Hedge Fund, a Brokerage, DFM or Financial Intermediary, we know that in order to process all of this information you need to be able to focus on what matters for you. This is Business Discovery and Qlikview allows us to help you achieve these results. We understand that only a fraction of all that we do has relevance for each of you as subscribers and that you want to get to this information as quickly as possible.

By locating all of our content in a single location and continuously building a library for you to browse you can compare historical and current analysis across markets and sectors to support immediate decisions regarding many aspects of compliance, risk management, asset allocation and investment decision making.

To paraphrase an American politician: as Sinergi we are in the business of dealing with the fact that, in financial markets:

  • “there are known knowns; there are things we know that we know”.
  • “there are known unknowns; that is to say there are things that, we now know we don’t know”.
  • “there are also unknown unknowns – there are things we do not know we don’t know.”

Every day as Sinergi, we set out to understand what we believe we don’t know because experience tells us that this information will help us. However, by following this path every day, Qlikview opens the window to the “unknown unknowns” that comes from our ability to look beyond our primary search to see associated information quickly and clearly from fresh angles.

For your business

Look Out for Qlikview in Your Industry

We expect that once you have seen the power of Qlikview to aggregate and segregate information you will begin to see how you can interlink the various systems and services that we expect exist in many businesses, particularly the services that you use and the internal information that you generate.
